My Mac laptop just flashed up a message saying 'Your start up disk is almost full' and told me to delete some files to make more space.

Where and how do I do this, and how do I know what's safe to delete?!!!

Any help very welcome!!!

If you've got a lot of stuff you've bought on iTunes, you can remove these from the Mac as they're stored in the iCloud, so you can always download them again if you need them.

I hardly ever buy anything from iTunes, and I don't download videos. I do have a lot of photos though.

I've started by deleting all my trash and my downloads. That turned out to be over 20,000 items! The message seems to have gone away now, so hopefully that will be enough for the time being!

Thank you for your help.

Our macbook said this at the weekend.

You can check how much space you have by clicking on the apple logo (top left corner), then about this mac

And then I think it's more info ( or something similar). Click on storage and it'll show how much space there is and how it's veing used up. :)

This happened to me and eventually I had to buy some more memory. I think it cost about £250 ish?
