Is there anyway to use a code to make a cell turn green if it has a number

Conditional formatting

CyberMenStrual · 17/01/2014 14:57

Can I hijack this thread and ask whether you can have a conditional formula to, for example, add up the contents of all cells coloured green?

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 17/01/2014 15:04

Not (AFAIK) for all cells coloured green, but yes to all cells with (for example) numbers less than 50 in -- look at the SUMIF function.

dont forget what colour you want 50 to be :)

For Cyber yes, sumif, or if you cant work that out, do a column that says =IF(ref

Googled the question and found this:
www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/849-excel-change-background-color-based-on-cell-value.html
Hope this helps

Trills · 17/01/2014 16:45

You can change the colour based on the value

But as far as I know you can't treat cells differently or do any calculations based on colour.

widowerbutok · 17/01/2014 16:50

Cyber, did the same for your question and found this (geeeesss its complicated)
www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/1155-excel-count-sum-cells-by-color.html

CyberMenStrual · 17/01/2014 17:06

Thanks widowerbutok - I'll have fun playing with that this weekend [incredibly sad old fart emoticon]
