iPhone 5s battery problems

I've had an iPhone 5s for a couple of months and think the battery is knackered already Hmm. This is my third or fourth iPhone and am always careful about charging properly, I've had a couple of my phones for two years each with no major battery problems. I unplugged this phone at about 3am today as it was fully charged and by 6 was on 60% charge - with no apps in the background, low screen brightness and location services/Siri off. The only thing I can think of is that I did a few partial charges last week from moving my phone about as it was charging, surely this shouldn't be enough to completely break a phone battery though? Is there anything I can do or am I going to have to send it away for a replacement battery?

I am pretty sure that iPhone batteries shouldn't be affected by 'partial charges' due to the nature of the battery (something sciencey about the chemicals that I can't remember properly!) so don't worry about that. Doing it just a few times certainly won't affect it, it sounds like your battery is dud. I had the same problem with one of mine once. Book an appt at your local Genius Bar, they will test the battery for you and if faulty they will replace it for free as it will be in warranty.

Do you live near an Apple store? If so then go to their website and book it in with one of their 'geniuses'. They can diagnose the problem and if possible repair it there & then for you.

It doesn't matter where you bought it from.

The other thing to try is to turn off all services. Put your phone into flight mode and note the battery percentage. Turn the screen off then come back 3 hours later, is it still roughly the same? If you are losing a lot of power then I'd say you have a battery fault. If it's not then possibly you have something sucking up the juice. Try disabling 3G and/or wifi to narrow things down. Do one at a time though.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I'm nowhere near an apple store but have had a couple of webchats with Apple people. I've done a complete wipe of my phone on their advice to see whether tins something installed on it causing the problem, it made no difference though so hopefully will now be able to get a replacement phone.

Have you turned stuff off like the auto clock adjust and the location whatsitthingy

There's lots of things you can switch off / change to improve battery life

But, in general, iPhone5 batteries are shit

Occasionally I have a problem with the battery on the iphone. After the last time I worked out what is was. It does it every time I do a FB update. From googling, certain updates are causing battery problems. Then a couple of days later, Apple release an update and everything goes back to normal, ie, on at least 16 hours with lots of calls, texts, browsing, games, music etc.

The iPhone batteries are just shit. Fact. Can't run a business with one so had to get a cheap phone from Asda as a back up with a monthly deal from Tesco.
