Ideally something like code academy.

Free and user friendly. Net is swamped with this, trawling thru it is too much.

Well, I was doing an ou course, but had to ditch it, despite good marks, due to home life, sn kids, etc

Am nearly halfway thru degree in computing and design, but struggling due to being swamped

Ideally, something similar to code academy, which I could do on tablet. That way I won't have to sit down with books etc, or home life is pretty awful and there are only snatched moments here and there

Free is important too. Not bothered about certificates, as this is just to keep me going until I can return to ou, which is very good.

There's a few recommendations here, don't know how any of those are, but worth a look.

moralimbecile · 07/12/2013 15:59

I can do a bit of javascript, html, but the intensity of my unintentional sahm life means I am becoming so unskilled, and I need the confidence boost

Already a graduate, arts based tho. Doing another undergraduate course with a view to returning to work, previous career is no longer viable sadly.

Am halfway thru ou. My work and marks and work ethicaare good, but when I emailed my tutor to discuss my home life, asd kids etc, he said situ is untenable :-(

Goth, that site looks good, will look later as I'm on phone now. Have also remembered I listened to a radio programme about iTunes U , although I'm looking for an interactive tutorial, rather than anything too heavy due to incessant interruption, no peace from demanding kids etc.

Can understand that :) I keep meaning to use the CodeAcademy site again, I'm a bit out of date with coding nowadays and it is hard to sit and learn with a toddler running about.

My ideal situation, taking into account rabid kids, is tablet, with code academy or similar, as my attention is so frazzled, and using large books just makes everything impossible. I could do an interactive tutorial at soft play, or waiting outside school, bits and pieces here and there. Also later at night, after ten o'clock. I am deeply time starved. And have no sanity either ;-)

I am too frazzled and lacking in time to trawl for tutorials. It's scary how much my domestic life has taken over everything.
