Snap.do seems to have installed itself onto my computer. Does anyone know how I can remove it?
It is not in the list of programmes so can't uninstall it and even though I change it in the google chrome settings, within a few days it's back. I've run scans but nothing seems to pick it up

Googled this and came up with this. If u don't like that way, google 'snap.do' and you will get some options.

I've tried all those, can't uninstall it because it doesn't appear in the list of programmes on the control panel and if I search it doesn't appear at all.

It'll have installed itself directly in to your search engine. It'll depend on the browser you're using as to how you remove it. With Firefox you go to Tools and 'Manage Add-ons'.

You'll also need to run a malware scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - the free version is available from www.malwarebytes.org

I've tried a full scan with my malware scanner and it seems to have picked up the registry keys? It isn't visible anywhere else but is really pissong me off. Not sure how it got onto my system.

Watching with interest. I have the same problem.

flatpackhamster · 30/10/2013 21:07

Which browser are you using? Which malware scanner?

NCISaddict · 30/10/2013 21:09

Google Chrome and spybot. Stupidly I hadn't done a full scan for ages, it took ages but picked up lots of snap do stuff, about 60 of the wretched things.

In Chrome, you need to go in to the options and remove some of the snap.do settings, including resetting your home page and search preferences.

Spybot should deal with the actual infection.

widowerbutok · 30/10/2013 21:15

It sometimes calls itself Quickshare, try that.
Also on Chrome try

  1. Settings
  2. Show advanced sync sittings.
  3. Reset Browser settings.
Best of luck

I've gone into settings and changed everything back to Google, hopefully spybot will get rid of the rest of it. How does it get into my system?
