How is it robustness wise? Suitable for children to use?

As with most of the tablets I don't think it would survive a drop test.
With a bumper or sturdy cover it may be ok for older children.

I had a look too over the weekend and I'm quite impressed.

I thought initially it would be locked down and force you into using Tesco stuff but it looks like stuff like the App Store is there so that's a big bonus.

The other thing I like is that you are going to be able to use your clubcard points at 2x value. So potentially you could get the tablet for £55 of vouchers if you had so many. Either way it's a good way of bringing down the cost.

At 7" it's fairly small but same size as the Nexus. Ideally I'd have liked it a bit bigger but at this price you really can't grumble. Seriously tempted to get one.....no idea why! lol

What's the battery life like?

Claimed battery life is 9 hours. Can't locate any tests yet, though I expect PC Review will do a test soon.

It seems to compare well against the Archos 80 Titanium which has a 8" screen so a bit bigger but does not have bluetooth, which the Hudl does have.

The KindleFire seems incredibly robust, children I nanny have those and they have a few scratches but have not cracked.

The price point seems a bit odd, £119? Surely that will be prone to being discounted at certain times, to say £99 - so it competes with other tablets on sale at the £99 price point. Or do you think that due to being part of Clubcard Boost the Hudl won't be discounted, so it encourages people to save up clubcard points and use them to get lower price?

It has expandable memory,
HDMI socket to hook up to a tv.
Better screen than most of the budget tablet competition. Think I'll be getting one.

That's impressive! I agree about the price point, most odd.

I never got a chance, few other people having a look. Shall have to go back and have a play.

We've got some clubcard points stored up, so might use boost and get it as a treat for Xmas, would be nice to take into hospital with me in the Spring.

Was looking at saving for the Nexus, so if it's comparable I think I'd be ma to pay the higher price.

Sounds good. Mil has just bought two to tuck away for christmas for the dc's to stop them nicking mine so im glad they seem good.

Re price - maybe they went 'shopping' for something at 100 quid and then remembered they had to add the VAT :)

Regardless of price I think it has a better spec than most of the competing tablets. This is more important to me. I want to be able to stream Netflix with a decent picture. Browse the web quickly. Expand the memory and connect to tv. So this sounds almost perfect. And the low price is a bonus.

Yes, it's a reasonable price (I have to admit to not having checked the spec) and even better for heavy Clubcard users...

My 7" Archos tablet (model 70it) is still going strong and 21 months old... Has mini HDMI and micro USB ports, and uses micro SD.

The newer kit no doubt knocks spots off my old thing (Android 2.2 from memory) but I find it fine for many purposes and it was nearly put into service at an art gallery to feed a 42" TV (in it's 'Photo Gallery mode' where it would have been displaying images of art work for people to see as they walk past the shops on that street).

Having been so underwhelmed by the club card offers for ages I got the " you vouchers expire in November" email ....and I've spent them on this :)

I am hopeless about these things, so her I am for advice please. Do you think my three almost 16yr olds would like one for Christmas? Can you download music, my dd`s I-pod is dying. I have enough club card vouchers to buy two so would be a great help for Christmas. Thanks:)

Triplets you can download music but not sure if u can hook it to the iPods as the hudl is android and the iPod is iOS.

But they can listen to their music through he hudl? God I am such a geek!

Hudl or Nexus 7. I have a whole £5 of clubcard points so I can't use them. I'd like to buy it today or tomorrow so I have it for half term (ours starts tomorrow).

Today's Stopoooopid question - can I connect either of them to the internet when I'm not in a free wifi zone?

Yes u can listen to music you put on via PC or usb stick etc or stream via internet when connected.

The hudl is wifi only I'm afraid.

Oh and music can be purchased via the play store.
