DS will be ten next week. He's got ASD, and is high-functioning, but struggling at school due to his writing skills not being up-to-scratch. We've been advised that an ipad will greatly help him, and so we're looking at which one to get.
It will need to be able to take photos and films, so that he can record his work in various ways. Voice recognition is vital, as his typing skills don't match his thinking! I'm imagining him using a wide range of apps for learning support, as well as creating his own films, photos and recorded voice stories, etc. These will, of course , need to be saved.
I will not be encouraging many games (apart from ones that are for learning!), and he has DVDs and my laptop for watching films. He's not that bothered about music, but will want to save some spoken voice stories and books to read (like on the Kindle).
I've looked at ipad2 and ipad Retina Display, and the Retina Display seems to have a much better camera and also the voice-activated stuff, which he will need.
So, I've narrowed it down to the Retina Display, but would the mini be OK, or will he need large size? And what should I get in terms of storage? I was hoping 16GB would be big enough, but if it gets full, how easy is it to add storage on, or could I get external storage?
