iPad v iPad Mini

Dh suddenly announced he has saved up for iPad for my birthday (another of those presents for 'me' which are really for him/kids )
I have one day to decide which one I want, so that we can take it on holiday with us. Have discounted Nexus 7, which head is telling me could be way to go, simply because everything else we own is Apple, so at least we vaguely understand the OS.

But do I want Mini or regular iPad?
And if regular, iPad 2,3 or 4?!

I would:
Flounce around on Internet while doing night feeds with ds4 in bed.
Plop on sofa with it to waste time online window shopping while dh watches cricket.
Store lots of videos on it for electric nanny'ing.
Occasionally kid myself they are doing educational apps rather than Dress Up Princess.
Edit photos on it.

I would carry on using laptop for work, so typing isn't such an issue.

Any thoughts please?

Id go with the full ipad if you're planning to use it at home. My ipad arrived today, it's a secondhand (like new) iPad 2 and I'm completely in love.

It is brilliant!!!

I'm going to use it for Internet flouncing, online shopping, movies, apps etc. Have gone for wifi only & the bigger screen as I'm not planning on carrying it around in my bag too much.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

The kitten has sulked for hours as she's had hardly any attention tonight. Gonna sleep with the iPad under my pillow in case she's out the back with it & a shovel later....

And agree that 32gb is better if you want movies & episodes of things, they take up more space than I realised!

I've used half the 32gb with everything i put on tonight but I have put quite a lot on & plan to swop the movies etc over on iTunes a lot.

The mini has a much worse screen with poor resolution compared to the full size or the nexus 7.

But the updated mini with 'retina' screen will likely be announced and on sale within the next 2 weeks. I would pick that.

DON'T BUY ANY IPAD NOW THE NEW MODELS ARE OUT IN SEPTEMBER!
