I'm sure someone will know the answer to this question, I have tried all morning to figure out what to do for the best and I'm completely flummoxed!
Basically, I need to convert a couple of files to pdf. I got my pc a number of years ago nd until recently I've only really used it for internet stuff. I now need to use it for writing up crochet patterns! I am currently using Works word processor so I can save files as wps, doc, docx, html, rtf... all very basic stuff! I've converted a file or 2 online with varying success using free sites - in fact I thought I had it all sorted out until I realised the tool I had been using had left out all the pictures and only converted the text to pdf Hmm

I'm now considering saving up to buy a program to convert files without any drama but I'm at a loss as to what to buy - I've had look at adobe's site but I don't want to pay for a program that is more than I need... I'm also unsure as to whether I could just buy MS office or similar and convert the files through there - it's been such a long time since I actually used word etc but I think I remember you can save files as pdf's on there... Confused

I would aim to create the document on something that saves as pdf. Try OpenOffice.

Another way is if you know anyone with indesign or quark they can drop in the word file for you and convert to PDF. If its very straightforward, literally just bringing in text then I am happy to do this for you (5 second job) pm me if you like?

rococopops - thankyou for your offer Flowers I ended up spending an hour using the facilities at the library in the end! It was pretty straightforward once I'd figured out what had happened to word (I think the last version I'd used was 95!).

cindy34 - I was looking at open office the other day- I did wonder if it could do the whole pdf thing!

DH (software developer type) seconds OpenOffice. He also recommends PrimoPDF which allows you to 'print' to .pdf (essentially the same as converting).

Google Docs, or now, Google Drive allows you to save uploaded text documents as PDFs. Its free and online, so nothing to install. You just need a Google account, also free, drive.google.com
