Any Evernote/virtual office type users?

I saw Evernote mentioned on a thread and decided to give it a go. I want to be able to store memos, documents, web snippets, scanned stuff virtually so Ican access them from wherever.
But the web snippet install isn't working for Safari. Is that just a temporary problem?

Is there any other competing software that does this job and if so, what are the relative merits of each?

Mine is working - I used it today. Have you tried updating your EN software?

You can also email a link to a page into EN if that would do for the moment although it wouldn't be searchable. Or just do an old fashioned cut and paste?

it said there was a problem acessing the EN server to download the browser button, so I'm hoping it's temporary. I'm usung a new ipadwith newly downloaded app so all should be up to date? Will try cut and paste!
It's all new to me and doesn't seem to be very intuitive but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

If I wanted to store separate documents of different types, for access anywhere, I would probably use Dropbox.

I use Evernote specifically for notes that I want to access anywhere. It acts a bit like a scrapbook, with text IMHO. So I might include bits of web pages, the occasional photo, links, typed notes, etc.

I have had the odd problem with notes not synching, hence you end up with the odd conflicting copy, otherwise no problem.

You can also use Google Docs, Skydrive and the like to hold existing documents or create new ones. But I lean towards Evernote and Dropbox in the main as they suit my needs better.

That makes sense Ladywordy. So Evernote is better for collating online recipes, but dropbox for my office docs.

Yes, I think so. If you play with Evernote you'll soon get a feel for how you want to use it. I thought it a bit overwhelming to start with ? the emphasis on versatility made it look complicated! But it's very simple really.

So I use it for small projects, study, that kind of thing - typing notes more than anything else. Dropbox is more like an access-anywhere filing cabinet.
