Is there a way to get itunes onto an MP3?

I ask because DD would like a music listening device for xmas while she is cycling to Uni etc. I haven't got the funds to buy her a ipod touch or even a nano.
I wanted to get her an MP3 for around £20 but DS tells me that she has all her music on itunes and she won't be able to put them on it.

Xmas Sad

Is there any sneaky software that could help with this do you think?

You can burn the tracks onto a CD and them import them back, or you could burn them onto an MP3 CD (ie a CD with MP3s, not normal audio files) and then import those onto the other player. Create a playlist first with all the tracks then "Burn Playlist to CD". Choose an MP3 disc and you'll be able to get loads on one CD.

This is one of the reasons I hate Apple. They make everything so locked down. But yes, there are several ways you can do it. Google throws up several pieces of software straight away as a start. An alternative though, slightly more long winded, is to burn the music to CDs or DVDs and then copy them back to your PC in a proper music format without all the stupid restrictions and then drag and drop the files to your generic MP3 player. The benefit of this is that you then have all your music on CD as well. Happy days!

Thanks, I've bought her the MP3 and boo sucks to Apple!

It depends really on what format the tunes are in on iTunes - most of mine are mp3s because I imported them into iTunes in that format in the first place.

If you right click on a track and click Get info it will tell you where the tunes are physically stored on the computer, and you should be able to find out from that whether they are mp3. If they are, you can just copy them onto the mp3 player, either using it's own software, or just treating it like a USB drive.

If tunes aren't on iTunes in mp3 format, you can right click and click 'create mp3 version', and it will produce an mp3 copy - though that could be a bit long-winded if there are a lot of tracks

CUP - what is the machine you're using (with iTunes on) as there may well be other useful audio-related software for it (if we knew what it was), IYSWIM ?

MP3/iPods are great BUT tell her NOT to use them while she is cycling.
Bloody stupid and dangerous
