Always had good experience upgrading with them in the past, but this time theyre being stubborn buggers.

Been with them 7 years, have 3 contracts on the account so a high monthly spend and today i have gone as far as saying i will cancel and requesting my PAC code, theyve called me a few times too to offer deals BUT theyre actually offering nothing but their standard prices available to all.

Every other time they have applied discretion and offered deals with extras and/or discounts.

Do they really not have discretion anymore?

I had just the same problem. They offered me nothing new and I have cancelled my contract and have told them we will be cancelling our 3 others. I then spent an hour on the phone trying to cancel.
I put in a complaint and they did try to contact me but when I finally spoke to them again they had no discretion to do anything.
It's a shame because we have had good deals in the past and I like the free to 3 as my dcs have no excuse not to contact us.

Oh gosh, i was hoping id just been unlucky with who i spoke to but your experience is the same as mine...

Really dont want to have to cancel and transfer numbers etc but im annoyed that theres no dicretion being applied at all, no incentive for loyalty. Balls!

About 6 months ago I told them I wanted a new phone (smart phone internet thing rather than a basic phone as I currentlyy had).
I explained I wanted the internet, and to continue with my free 100 texts and 300 minutes. The guy suggested a particular phone on a basic contract. I said I'd think about it.
I did my research and called back saying I prefered a different phone. This time the guy said I'd be better off with a different, more expensive phone, which he would give me for free. I said I'd research it and call back.
Third conversation, I phoned up to say 'yes'. Before I had the chance to, the guy offered me an even better phone, and their top spec contract for ........£12 a month !!!!

Yes just upgraded one of my phones. Phoned up and said basically right my contract is up, I want an upgrade so what you got to offer to stop me going to competition. I reminded them that I am a fab customer with a number of contracts. At first they didn't give me anything, so I joked and said oh might just wait for someone else from the company to call me in about a week to flog me another contract, get that deal and cancel this contract. Came back straight away with a fab offer, or wait a bit longer to see what they can offer with the latest model.

I was looking at getting a galaxy note. They were talking over £30 yet the stupid thing is I can go on line buymymobile and get the same phone through 3 with a really good package for just £25, but I can't use a pac number so will have to change my number.

"but I can't use a pac number so will have to change my number."

Switch to a PAYG on some other network for a week, taking your existing number with you, and then switch back, if that means you can get a better deal.

As soon as you are talking to them about the PAC to leave, explain you have been left no choice but to leave as they don't seem to want your loyalty. Don't mention what you plan to do, but see what they can offer, if anything.

Find a Vodafone for under 20 quid (Asda has the Vodafone 354 for 15 quid brand new) or a s/h one on Ebay or in a CEX / CashConverter/ CashGenerator shop for a fiver, get an Asda SIM pack and buy a five quid Asda top up voucher, so you can take your number away to Asda for a week... A few days later, ask for your PAC on Asda and say they don't have a good data plan, so you made a mistake switching to them... and go back to Three.

Then flog the used, but 'Class A' Vodafone to CEX (they had one of the 354 for 30 quid in my local store, even though they're still 15 quid new and boxed in Asda 300 yards away). You might end up breaking even on the Vodafone and just have paid for a week of calls (10p/min to mobiles or landlines, 8p per text on Asda).

Thanks niceguy

Update on 3, having filled in another of their surveys following up our previous phone call, i have had 3 trying to ring me for the last 2 days. They said they had done market research and that customers were not interested in loyalty schemes which is why they are not offering cheaper upgrades anymore. They did then offer me a £27 plan for £25 with 300 free to 3 minutes thrown in (i used to have 7000 free to 3 minutes) told them i will ring them back, but wont take it.
