I'm at the stage where I can afford an iPad due to receiving some money.
Is there much difference between the two as price wise the difference is about £70?

I am interested in the same question, have wondered about getting a second hand ipad2 in order to get the 32gb

I would say that if you don't have an ipad then go for the ipad 2.

If you have an ipad1 then there's not enough to tempt you to upgrade. But the ipad2 is significantly slimmer than the first, faster and you can connect the smart covers to it.

The ipad3 IMO isn't worth it at all as the only major difference is the retina screen and realistically you can only tell the difference if you go looking for it and even then I could only tell when I had an ipad2 sat next to it looking at the same photo.

I must say though that I have an ipad1 and as a self confessed gadgetnut, I haven't seen enough need to spend my hard earned cash on an upgrade. It still does everything we want and well.

I don't have an iPad at the moment so this would be my first.
niceguy2 I thought there wasn't much difference between 2 and 3 but I needed someone else to confirm it!
Thank you!
An iPad 2 it will be!

I bought an iPad2 in June and when they showed me the pictures in that one and the new one, I couldn't see any significant difference, when both devices were side by side at the Apple shop I visited. The new IPad is a bit faster than the second but this one I'm sing now is quick enough for me.

Save some money and get the iPad 2.

Thats really helpful thank you, it's easy to get sucked into the idea that you need the latest gadget. Out of interest for someone who will be using it to watch the occasional TV , reading newspapers , surfing , emails etc is the 32g the most suitable ?also anyone able to explain iCloud to me?

I had an original iPad, which I have now given to DD, DS has an iPad 2 (and I look after 15 more at the school I work at) and I have now upgraded to the new iPad, so I have had a lot of opportunity to compare all three.

If I'd had an iPad2, I don't think I would have upgraded to the new one, despite the fact that there is, to me, a significant difference in the quality of the display and in the speed between iPad 2 and the new one. However, I did think it was worth upgrading from the original iPad because I wanted a camera and to use various camera based apps, and because since upgrading the original iPad to iOS 5 I had noticed a significant increase in Safari crashing. Also, there is the question of support for iOs upgrades - the original iPad won't be able to run iOS 6, due in the autumn, but the iPad2 will.

I'm very happy with the iPad 2 set we bought for the school, and don't think we're missing out on anything major by not waiting for the iPad3.
