Keypad for DH's ipad or my own tablet?

Hi

Interested in ideas/opinions...

I freelance. Sometimes I am out & about and in-between meetings annoyed that I cannot get on with work. So I need something I can use. My laptop is "normal size" and also has everything in my world on it, so would prefer to leave it at home.

I have a netbook, but that seems so heavy compared to DH's ipad.

In the interest of not adding to our ridiculous number of pcs/devices in our house (DH in IT, we have 7! for 2 adults) and also the cost...DH has suggested I use the iPad with a keyboard. I want to type on a keyboard, cannot be doing with the touch screen typing. Mainly for wordprocessing.

Or I could invest in my own tablet.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Saw an Android v4 tablet for about 100 the other day - but had not fully investigated whether there were some USB ports (I personally prefer a full size keyboard for laptops/notebooks though do use the on-screen keyboard [sometimes the supplied one on my Archos 70 tablet, and SlideIT [under 3 quid to buy] on several mobiles, 'cos it has a mode where prediction is disabled and I found it most convenient of the ones I tried).

If interested, I'll re-find the links (2 different sites, different tablets, one price under 87.50 from memory)...

Hi

Sorry for delay.

That sounds good. Links would be great, thanks.

If money isn't a big issue then I'd recommend one of these:

Asus Transformer Prime

Basically it's an Android tablet which can dock with it's own keyboard and in effect turns into a netbook.

The beauty of it is that it's all designed from the ground up to be integrated so it performs beautifully. The keyboard also acts as a second battery so you get nearly 20 hours out of it. And the screen is one of the best I've seen. Certainly as good as the ipad 2's. In fact it's the only Android tablet which I'd switch to from my trusty ipad. The only thing holding me back really is the price.

If you want to continue to use the ipad then you could get one of these cases:

Bluetooth Keyboard but then it doesn't look half as nice.

I just bought the new logitech ultrathin keyboard cover for the ipad. It is small, but if you are used to typing on a macbook it is easy to type on and stable. I just need to find a neoprene sleeve that fits both of them. Logitech claims you can use it two hours a day for SIX MONTHS on one battery charge.

I'm typing on it now. It is fun to use but I miss guestures and my touchpad.
