Excel vba programming for 2010; how different to 2003

Hi,

I was thinking of getting a book to learn the above (for a better chance of getting a particular job).

My work has Excel 2010 and I have 2003. I know they look very different but for Excel's normal functions I have found that it is really only the layout so it is easy enough to navigate.

Is the visual basics editor very different? If I teach myself on 2003 will I be more or less prepared? I am not sure I want to splash out on a new Excel if it is not totally necessary

Tia

I use excel in the same fashion and i have not found much difference between the two. There are some variable handling and some object orientated syntax that will vary but only slightly and nothing the reams of forums cant help you with. 2010 was mostly changed to make the front end more 'user friendly'. To that end you can no longer write modules and assign them to custom menus as it does not allow you to do that in 2010. I would say you will be fine to learn on 2003 and 90% of your code will be forward compatible.
