I have a nano lite MP3 player. I have never had one/seen one/touched an MP3 player until now.

I have tried plugging it into my computer but a message is appearing saying windows doesn't recognise it.

The friend who gave it to me tried loading some music onto it from his computer. He got the same message but left it plugged in anyway to charge it up. When he next looked it had somehow found some music from his computer and loaded it on all by itself Confused. Now I can play some stuff but I don't know if it's on random or how many albums are on there because the screen info seems messed up. It's only listing tracks as numbers, not names and I can't navigate the bloody thing properly. (It doesn't help that my friend hasn't passed on the instructions yet, although he reckons they're pretty useless).

So, can anyone shed any light on what I'm meant to be doing?

TIA.

can you find the manufacturer and model number on the player anywhere? It may need a specific driver (software) to work with your computer.

Ah, never mind, I have found it. The instructions for use are here although if you google 'nanolite mp3' one of the first suggestions by google is 'won't connect to pc' which suggests that problem is fairly well known.

What should happen is when you plug it in, it will show as an additional drive on your computer, and you can then just drag the music you want on to it. The music files will only display track names/artists if the mp3 file has the data attached to it. To check this, find one of your music tracks on your pc, and select it, and right click with your mouse. On the menu which pops up, choose 'Properties', and then click on the 'Details' tab. You should be able to see the title, artist, album, track number and various other details. You can edit most of these fields by clicking on them and typing in the details, then clicking ok.

Thank you (sorry for slow reply)
I've found you tube clips with instructions and their website. I'm going to email them directly I think.
Thanks again.
