I need a printer to go with my laptop, a Dell Inspiron. Any ideas?

Don't get an Epson.

That narrows it down, does it? Wink

Canon is a good make. If you have the funds I'd opt for a laser printer. Does that narrow it down any further?

Actually I went off and had a look, and am considering an HP LaserJetPro wireless - although I have slightly confused myself as to whether there is such a thing Blush

What are your priorities?

For low initial purchase costs get a black and white laser printer or an inkjet.

For low running costs get a black and white laser printer.

For low hassle get a laser printer. Inkjets clog, especially if they are not used enough.

For photo quality printing you need an inkjet, but a good colour laser printer will do for anything short of photo quality.

Do you need a wireless printer? Wireless connections are slower, less and reliable, but obviously reduce the need for wires.

Cruel is making some good points. It all depends on what you want. Telling us what laptop you want is a bit like asking us what caravan you want when you have a Ford Mondeo. All very interesting but we need more info.

The only thing is that whilst wireless printers seem to be all the rage at the moment, they are a bit fiddly to set up. Well at least mine was. I've had two. An HP and Epson. Both were not easy to set up and I'm a geek. Even now my Epson is hit & miss with wireless scanning. Some day's it works, others it wont.

That said, for £35.....something like this Epson SW235w, you have to forgive them. Cheap as chips.

I had considered most of those points, but think I may now drop the requirement for wireless. Thanks, all Thanks
