Now that my little bears are growing, I'd like to set up a fantastic email system which I've seen other people using. I'd be [email protected], dh would be [email protected], dsi would be [email protected] etc etc. don't know how to do it though. Do I have to buy the name thesmiths.co.uk (may already be in use, I know, perhaps by a band?! but just an example). do I have to set up a website? Should I pay someone else to sort this for me? Any ideas please? What I don't want to be is mumsmith@yahoo or similar. thank you for any tips.

You have to buy the domain. Don't know how it works but my brother has one, so we all have [email protected]

Google how to buy a domain name. There are loads of companies - your problem is finding a reliable one.

There is a reliable company here. I've been using them for years.

Instructions for setting up a mailbox with Virtualnames are here. If you get the "Advanced Email Account" you can have 10 mailboxes and unlimited aliases. This will allow your family to have a mailbox address that you don't give out, a set of main addresses for people they trust and throwaway addresses that they can use for less trustworthy websites.

The "Advanced Email Account" is only 10 pounds per year plus the cost of the domain.

Not giving out the main mailbox address makes it easier to change the trusted email addresses if there are any problems.
