am fed up of blurred and dark photos taken on my phone. have twin babies and a 3yo, can never remember where camera is, but always have phone on me, so snap with that then regret later. need to be able to take better photos or else we'll end up with no good photos of the babies this whole year. don't care about other features as long as I can phone and text. suggestions please? thx Grin

IIWY I would just try to remember where the camera is. IMO phones are for making phone calls not taking pictures. At least not ones you want to keep. My phone simply phones and texts (and has a torch which 100 times more useful than any camera, MP3 player or other gimmick).

have tried remembering where the camera is for 5 months and it just hasn't worked. I have seen some good photos taken by phones, this is what I need.

Possibly the Sony Cybershot phones? I have an older one, which is reasonable. It suffers the usual limitations of compact digital cameras, i.e. slow to take, so you sometimes miss a fleeting moment and it doesn't always choose the right focus.

The Nokia N9 I think it is has won award/awards for best camera phone.

mdavza · 12/03/2011 13:14

Nokia, definitely (I use iphone, DH nokia)

Are you going to want to print them out? Be able to add effects before/after taking? (vignette/film grain/"retro"/ etc)

What do you currently have?

MamaChocoholic · 12/03/2011 13:29

thanks I currently have a Sony Cybershot, but about 3 years old. don't care so much about printing or effects, just to capture a few "moments" with sufficient brightness and in focus to be able to flick through on the computer. A few we might print, but just 4x6 size.

I'll have a look at the Nokia, thanks :)

With a cybershot you should really be taking ok pics. Is there an auto setting for flash, focus and exposure? When you take pictures is the subject in light? Movement is tricky to avoid in children lol! The trick with photographing children is to press the shutter a second or 2 before you need to. And if there is a continuous setting - USE IT!

PaperView · 12/03/2011 13:50

Depending on the cybershot of course ;)

MamaChocoholic · 12/03/2011 19:08

maybe it's user error then Blush

focus just seems poor. it's a 3.2m pixel. will check settings - should be the defaults, don't think I've played around with anything.

If the focus is poor then its unlikely to be user error. Sorry, i didn't mean to offend.

Sony Ericsson (cybershot) are really good. I've got an iPhone and it's no where near as good as the camera on my old Sony Ericsson. My phone camera was even better than my actual digital camera (though DH says it's because I don't use it properly)

I'm pleased with the quality on my HTC desire phone.

MamaChocoholic · 17/03/2011 13:33

oh the htc desire does look good - a bit over functional for me though - not sure I want a web browser on my phone or I will never get off MN

surprised the cybershot is thought so highly of. maybe mine's an early model (3 years old), too few pixels? or perhaps I need to play with the settings. Is "vga" more detailed than "3mp"? Am playing, but I won't be able to tell till I load the pics onto computer.
