I am writing here in both frustration and desperation. I have just treated myself to series 1 and 2 of Being Human (mainly to see Aidan Turner)and have just tried to watch series 1 and can't get the dvd player to work. This is probably because my DH and DD have been fucking fiddling around with it all and have no damn idea what they are doing. Neither have I for that matter and so we have dvd and video players and a wii all with loads of cables and none of it working. We also have sky+.

Does anyone live in Surrey and know of a lovely installer who can just come and sort it all out for me? I did have one some years ago who specialised in sorting out technology for old people and he was wonderful but I have sadly lost his details. I have waded through stuff on google but there doesn't seem to be anyone who fits the bill. It is all bit flash and sophisticated. I just want to be able to insert a video or dvd and watch them (the video for my old and much thumbed collection of Daniel Day Lewis films - seems a bit of a theme here).

I don't understand the problem your TV has multiple connectors, I expect the Sky is a HDMI, theres probably at least 2 scarts you can have the vid and DVD in and a wii can be scart with the block provided or composit with coloured plugs that plug into the block.

Ryoko the problem is we are stupid and have no idea - what is a scart?

Do a google search for your brands of DVD/Video/TV.

Download the user manuals.

Follow the instructions in the manuals.

It's really not that hard.

Do a google for images of HDMI, Scart and composit connectors/sockets.

not that you even need to just unplug everything see the connectors attachjed to each device and connect them back to the TV accordingly in the sockets in the order you wish if there are not enough sockets on the TV.

it's not like the old days when you had to tune em in, things are easy now compared to the 80's with the simple press of a Source or Ext button on the remote to flick between the devices connected.
