Assistive technology: Dragon or something else?

I'm having a few problems with my hands & the OU has suggested I try Dragon.

I have a very very old version which never really clicked for me; is it better now or are there other packages that are better?

I am quite soft spoken and I think this is an issue.

Dragon has been recommended to me as the best out there, although the included one in Windows 7 isn't bad. You need a good headset, and spend the time training it

there's also a dragon app for iphone now which is not bad. although the first text I dictated that was supposed to read "I'm texting with dragon dictate" came out as "Im off down the pub with me mates." Hmm Grin I believe you have to train it.

How is your dd btw

Voice recognition has come on in the last decade but its still far from perfect.

I used to support a couple of voice recognition software about a decade ago. To be honest people tended to stop using them after a while.

But i guess it depends on how bad your hands are as to if its worth putting up with the hassle of having to constantly either repeat yourself or after do major editing.

Tricky isn't it

I'll have a think
