Does anyone have it?

Its worth having right?

I have a brand new laptop and iphone, and a very inquisitive toddler, so I reckon its worth it.

Does anyone know any good, cheap insurers for gadgets?

Is it not covered under your household contents insurance??

You have an allowance, you're usually covered for things up to 1k (check the policy). My policy only went up by £1 a month when I added accidental damage to it.

Checked, we have contents insurance upto £3000, but no accidental cover. How strange!

Contents will just be for fire/theft/flood etc. Accidental damage is for when a shelf falls off the wall and smashes the hand blown glasses, the top of the cooker and breaks a pile of plates. It's very useful! Smile

Yes, I will definitely be needing it and getting it! Thanks Belle.

Worth checking too that when they say accidental damage that it also includes water damage.

I think most home insurance should cover that but I know some of the dedicated gadget insurer's exclude this and bury it in the small print.

Do you mean 3,000 for contents insurance ?

I thought they expect something higher than that (unless your furnishings, beds, music system, TVs, computers, games systems, come to a total under 3,000).

Oh forgot the family heirlooms, like a big grandfather clock, or wide bookcase with an inscription on it, or even a nice thick glass dining table and modern chairs...

I just think that's a bit low - felt sure it was a minimum of 12,500 on one old policy (must hunt for last years to see if there is any proposal to change the new one, and do a bit of shopping around).
