Is T Mobile coverage still poor?

T Mobile seem to give very good deals that can't be matched elsewhere. How can they do this. is it because of poor network coverage? Am thinking of moving from O2 to T Mobile so I can get a better phone. Are T Mobile ok?

I've been with t-mobile for about 6 years and they're much better than they used to be. They've hooked up with Orange so in places where T-mobile signal is low it uses the Orange network instead

The general consensus seems to have been that T-Mobile are poor. However, with the recent hook up with Orange, not sure how that will affect it.

They used to have a coverage checker online so that you coud check the coverage at your home/place of work etc.

At the end of the day it depends on where you are and where you want to go. I have great coverage on t-mobile, my husband is a radio engineer for them. I on the other hand am a radio engineer for Voda/o2 Grin

Honestly, having worked in telecoms for 12 years now, all of the operators are similar, especially in urban areas. Once you go into more ruralo areas then it will be different - the operators all have different strategies for coverage, but given that t-mobile and orange are one and the same now, and that vf/o2 are mast sharing there really shouldnt be a great deal in it other than price

Thanks for that info all. geordieminx - that's reassuring.

Have not had a problem with T-Mob (or one2one as they were in 1998) in years of usage. Am currently using Virgin Mobile (which AFAIK is not supported on Orange cells, so just using T-Mob masts) but to compensate for higher frequencies not penetrating buildings so well/suffering signal losses, Orange and T-Mobile have more masts.

I think it really will depend on how rural you are - some swear by O2 in N Wales, while a friend with a static caravan along the coast can only get signals on Orange, so local obstructions etc are significant.
