I have an iTunes account for my iPhone which I only just manage to use Blush.... if I buy DS a iPod how do I put his music on his machine? Another iTunes account? If I use mine does that mean he'll have to listen to my old fogey music?

TIA

Open a folder in iTunes then you can copy his music into that. When he syncs HIS iPod you can select to sync with that folder only.

The easiest option is when you connect his iPod to your Machine for the first time select the option to Manually Manage your music, that is to say so "No" when it asks if you want to auto-sync.

The iPod will then appear in iTunes and you can drag whatever music from your iTunes onto it that you want.

Oh and doing it that manual way also means that once you've copied the music onto DS's iPod you can delete it from iTunes, and that way it won't end up on your iPod.

This page on the Apple support site explains how to use multiple iPods on one computer Though I have tried the third option they suggest, to create a new library, and have never succeeded in getting it to work-I just created a new folder for DH's music on our main computer (which also has DD's music) as Portofino suggested.

On my laptop, it knows the difference between my iPad &iphone & remembers the folders I synched last time. I don't have it set to sync automatically so I can make any changes I need to before I sync.

I'm very surprised that that page on Apple doesn't suggest manually syncing your iPods. That to me is the simplest method and gives you the ability to easily choose exactly what you want on each one.

I asked this question probably exactly 12 months ago. my iTunes now manages 1 iPhone, 2 nanos, 1 iPad and 2 iTouches!

I manually manage music etc and we have separate playlists within the library to ensure DSs don't get inappropriate songs on their nanos.

We have three iPods on our computer and have them as separate users accounts on the computer itself so when, for example, DH syncs his, he logs on as a different user to when I sync mine. To copy music between the accounts, you can drag and drop files into a shared folder accesible to all users, then drag back into iTunes.

LOL SoupDragon - I was thinking about my 1 Lily Allen song!

In answer to the OP - it's easiest to manage dc's iPods from your own itunes account - especially if they have iTouches and can download apps or music directly. Having one account makes it easier to control the password.

When you set up an extra iPod on your iTunes account it asks you if you want to manage it as 'a home account' (or something similar).

I have just counted up the devices on my iTunes account - seven devices managed across 3 PC's Shock.
