Got a 2nd hand 60GB PS3 off Ebay which arrived this morning.
Plugged all leads in that i think are needed (power supply and the red, yellow, white leads) but all i am getting is a blank, black screen. No menu or anything. Plugged controller in and pressed button on that and the 4 red lights just flash and go off. Tried little reset button on that. Also tried press and hold on button until 2nd bleep but it still doesn't work.
Please tell me i can fix this and that it isn't something wrong with the PS3?

I held on button but no flashing lights just a bleep then off then did it again, one bleep then 2 bleeps. Still no flashing lights.
I have no idea what the TV is but as i have no hdmi cable i guess it won't make a difference.
I think i will be returning it for refund then hoping i have time to get another one off Ebay and that that works!! Can't get one until have refund because have no spare money Sad. I was so pleased i got a 60GB one too as we have loads of PS2 games!

OH Bugger!
Seller has turned! They seemed all nice and friendly asking if it was ok and trying to help with set up. Now i have informed them that i can't get it to work, i am being accused of swapping it with another console. Angry And they are saying they don't accept returns!
Well, that is my Sons Christmas fucked up! Tossers! Angry

Do you still have a record of the auction pictures to show the product?.

You paid too much anyway TBH you could get a new 320gig one with a game for £250 odd.

Inform ebay the credit card or paypal or what ever that it was a fraudulent transaction, make sure all correspondence with the buyer is going via ebay so they have a record, make a not of the fact the item was not pictured as working (was there any pictures of it with the TV behind it showing that it displayed an image).

Email Sony and ask them if the unit (provide the serial number has ever been registered with a user/PSN account and if the former user has ever had it repaired or requested one outside of warranty and subsequently declined to pay for one.

they may not tell you but if you can get confirmation linking that system to the seller he is stuffed, I'm racking my brains here trying to think if there is a way you can access the Hard Drive to get the PSN info off it, Actually have you even checked it has a Hard Drive in it and the bastard didn't take it out?

Just seen this - what a nightmare, definitely start an item not as described dispute straight away!! Sad

I can't afford £250! Which is why i went for 2nd hand and i thought the 60GB was best option because we have loads of PS2 games that i don't want to get rid of.

I had a good long chat on the phone with the seller today and have managed to come to an agreement and i will be posting it back to them tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will all go smoothly from here on in!
We both said we would rather not go through a dispute because of the time it takes. Whatever happens i am out of pocket by £14 for postage back to them!
