Embedded Fonts

We want to do one of those self-publishing things and the document has to be a PDF with embedded fonts. I think I have the PDF thing figured out but not sure about the fonts. It is in both Word and Open Office Writer. Any advice greatfully accepted!

If you are using Word, it will usually embed fonts by default. You can check the pdf file you produce, when it is open in Acrobat Reader, click File->Properties->Fonts. All fonts should say (Embedded) or (Embedded Subset) after them.

If there are any that don't, and this is likely to be true if you have used emboldening or italics (because Word cheats to produce these effects), you are going to have to try hard to eliminate them. Alternatively, download a trial copy of a proper DTP programme (Adobe InDesign or Microsoft Publisher if you must) and use that.
