DD has a contract phone that still has to run for some months, but is not compatible with the system in her car, although the package is good and well priced. She drives long distances, so I am keen for her to have a hands free phone connection.

Obviously Hmm she likes the sound of the iphone, which funnily enough is car compatible.

Could I just go and buy one and put her Vodafone sim in it? Is there a better way of doing it? Are iphones available at lower prices anywhere?

Vodafone are just not interested.

Thanks for any help.

I think you need an iPhone package - one that does emails and web surfing - I know that a normal SIM card works with my old iPhone, but only for calls. It cannot be used to go online.

"I am keen for her to have a hands free phone connection."

I thought there was research saying that using the phone while driving was likely to distract the driver to a degree as bad or worse than them being under the influence.

If DD drives long distances then "for safety" I suggest there is nothing done to make hands free use of the phone more easy - if work colleagues and friends/family don't get an answer immediately they can text a msg or leave voicemail so she can listen to it next time she is in a position to pull off the road and do it safely.

It is the case that some countries/regions (not UK, yet) have banned all use of a phone by a driver, on safety grounds.

I accept the website may wrongly suggest a total band when only hand-held is currently banned.

However, seeing possible prison time and fines up to US$300+ (Eire), it seems some countries consider this far more seriously.

Not sure how many points one is allowed on a S Korean driving licence, but getting 15 points might be a tough penalty...
