I have totally forgotton it as the computers connect to it automatically. I want to add a new device, any idea how I can do this? Its a netgear wireless router if that makes any difference.
Our computers are MACs too, not sure if that makes any difference.
Thanks

Have you looked on the modem box? That's where mine is. It's about 26 digits, mixture of letters and numbers, grouped in 4s.

Only some providers put the WEP key on the router, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's not there.

What you might have to do is to rest the password on the router to some new known password and then enter than into all the computers on the network, they should just remember it so it's no big chore.

If your Macs connect automatically the password is saved in the system keychain. Go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and open it. You will then see a list of things that have saved passwords, and one of them will be your network. Double click that item, and then click the box that says "show password". At this point you will need you Mac OS X login password (the one you gave it when you set the Mac up in the first place and the one you need when updating software) and then it will show you what the password is.

It's the same process if you forget any other saved passwords- email, etc. You just need to make sure you know your login password.

If it's not on the bottom of your router, there may be a web address (http) - go to that website and you should be able to find it.

Thanks badger, very useful to know how to do that.

Thanks Prism, that worked perfectly!

WEP is horribly insecure. You should switch to WPA if you can.
