Internet access through Kindle. Is it free?

Just realised I can access the Internet through the 'experimental' section on my Kindle.

I know it is free in the U.S. but does anyone know how to find out if that is the case everywhere?
I am in Ireland.

Tried Googling but couldn't find the answer.

I'd love to use it but terrified I'll end up with a huge bill.

Thanks

Do you have wifi or 3G? Wifi definitely free.

Either way it should be free, as you do not have a contract with a company, like you do with a mobile phone. You have no sim card, so how could you be charged?

I have the Kindle2 and the browser is next to useless tbh. It takes ages to load. Maybe better on a wifi connection.

Thanks

We have WiFi at home but on my Kindle it showed 3G. I'll have to try to connect it to the WiFi.

I have the old one without Wifi so no idea how you do that.

Yes...free with 3G. It works but is slow and clunky and you cannot access all websites. I can just about use gmail and hotmail if I really have to.
