Darn. I was all set to advise you on a selection of rainwear Grin

Good luck - I'm sorry I can't help with the PC!

I thought make-up.

I have the cheapest macbook (here) and love it, I use it similar to how you would. Next time I'd probably go for an iMac if I could afford it, as I don't need a laptop and the case can be fragile. Do get the Applecare support if you can afford it as well (certainly with the macbook it's a good idea), as if there is any damage this will cover it.

For most people it's a choice of two- the cheapest MacBook, or the cheapest iMac, depending on whether you want a laptop or not. If you really find the size of the MacBook screen too small (13"), you could go to the MacBook Pro 15", but then you're spending £1500 instead of £850 and the bigger screen is the only feature that will really matter to you.

Don't be bamboozled by any "reasons" to buy more expensive versions with faster processors or fancier graphics cards- they won't make any difference to you, except in the wallet.

I have a MacBook, but would have (probably) gone for the MacBook Pro if it hadn't been a gift. The MacBook doesn't have firewire which can be useful for downloading home movies and photos.

But if you don't do photo stuff and don't need firewire, then a MacBook is brilliant. Get a cover for it though as they scratch very easily.

And also think about where to get it (unless your voucher is store specific). Mine was gotten at John Lewis and came with a 2 year guarantee. Apple only guarantee for one year, although you can buy extended warranty and there is some debate as to one's rights past the warranty in terms of Sale of Goods Act. However, it can be really useful to have a fall back if something goes wrong.

I have the 15" macbook pro and it's a beautiful machine - very much advise getting the anti glare screen though.
