Time Machine/Time Capsule/automatic back-up - anyone got this?

Does anyone have a set-up that automatically backs up your Macbook (or other laptop/pc)?

DH has been talking about it and I'd love a more secure way of saving all the DC photos/films/etc.

Is a Time Capsule the answer?

Or something else?

(I have a Macbook, DH has a work Dell laptop - not sure if his can connect too?)

I use time machine to back up to an external hard drive. Its very easy, just plug in and go, however I have it set to backup every 10 days which I must change as I never do it that often
However if it was really clever instead of telling me that "time machine has not backed up your computer for 10 days" it would say "you've not backed up but since you've done feck all work for the last 10 days there's really no need you lazy muppet!"

Your'e giving me ideas, FSand L; I think I might write an app that does just that...

No way will i put any new photos or documents on the PC again, it's Apple all the way for me now!!

Once it's done (about another hour it says) then i have no excuse to put off the "upload some to Snapfish & order some printed out ones for their photo albums" job
