compost bins - any recommendations?

we currently have the clip together variety. it doesn't. is it worth spending a lot on one of the tombola types or is it just as well to get a plastic bin and turn it upside down?? we don't have a particularly large garden, btw.

We have a Henchman tombola type and it is amazing. It makes fantastic compost in a really short period of time.

I also have 3 darlek type bins and 2 homemade pallet composters - they also make great compost but over a much longer period of time.

The tumbler composter does take up quite a bit of space - it needs to be on a firm level base or it tips up when you rotate it.

ah, useful information, thanks pantry boy. space is at a premium. given that we've had the crap composter for over a year and have never taken compost out of it, time isn't really a consideration.

We have a beehive type compost bin in a very small garden. It's fine and looks quite nice too. However we have to take it apart to get the compost out when it's ready.

Tombola type is well worth it. We have that and a beehive one (and a wormery). The tombola one rots down to useable compost within days/weeks. The other one is much, much slower (if prettier).

You have to take it apart!!!? We have quite bad diy allergies in our house, that sounds like a lot of bother.... They do look nice, tho.
