anyone know anything about them? bought one 10 days ago, planted it - big hole, extra fertiliser, bit of feed, lots of moisture. have watered every day as so hot. now not looking so good - bottom half leaves are falling off or curling up dry.

had conflicting advice re water more / less / not at all.

any thoughts please? what have I done wrong?! must be me as it was quite happy before I took it home.

I have one of these in our garden and also had some probs with it, think they are quite hard to establish.
I know it has been very hot (not really an ideal time to plant a tree) but I think watering every day may too much for trees, I think the advice is to give it a really good soak once or twice a week, ie a couple of buckets of water.
Did you put any mulch round the trunk? This is a good way to lock in some moisture, though you do need to soak the soil well before mulching.

yes I planted just as the hot weather hit and realise it wasn't a good idea. will hold off on the watering and will sort some mulch. thanks!

You might find the leaves look bad through the summer, esp if it stays this hot, but they should perk up next year.
I thought my tree was going to die last year but its looking good now it has settled in.

just to update Pannacotta (great name btw!) - I have just left the poor thing alone and it has perked up no end. I was obviously killing it with care!
