Will play bark turn into cat litter area?

I'm not sure if this is the correct topic for this question but I'm going to give it a go!

I'm going to create a children's play area at the end of our garden. The lawn will not grow at that end as it is too shady and the big trees suck up all the water etc. I'm thinking of putting play bark down over the entire area. My questions are: is this the most economical/appropriate thing and secondly, do you think that the local foxes and cats will think I've just provided them with a fancy new litter tray? We don't have a big budget for the project so I don't want to get it wrong!

Any advice will be much appreciated!

We have a play bark area, and it never gets pooed on by any of the numerous cats and foxes that visit our garden. No, they much prefer using our grassy lawn as their toilet.

You are wise to consider these things in advance, though. I put gravel down in a front garden once and boy did I regret it.

While we're on the subject, has anyone tried planting that "Scaredy Cat" plant, which is supposed to deter cats and foxes?
