Neighbour who has a business electroplating metal has an overflow tap on his properties outside wall which runs into my garden (this is just at my garden boundary). several of my conifers have now died because of the liquid he deposits. I have reported this to environment health - no help - said they'd monitor him and analysis the soil - but he still does it.what can I do. I don't want to have a blight on my property has I'm putting it on market in few months. Really Really upset. Thanks for any help.

Take photos of the tap overflowing into your property, and your dead/dying vegetation and raise hell with environmental health.

Really go hardline with them - it's the only way they'll prioritise your case. If you want to lie emphasise your position, say you grow vegetables/fruit for human consumption at the property, and you're worried about the effects the contamination could be having on you and your family.

The civil tort of trespass also covers substances. Not only is it an Environmental Health issue (so you get them involved) and a Health and Safety Issue (and they need to get involved as well) the leaking of a noxious substance onto your property is a civil Trespass, and you may claim unliquidated damages.

I suggest you go see a solicitor asap and threaten litigation unless you get a remedy and damages.

have you contacted the environment agency?
