It has:

Gorse-like foliage (and habit, IIRC)

Small, extremely fragrant white/ cream flowers

It's large shrub/ small tree sized

I need one for my new garden but I can't seem to find or identify it

I did once know it's name and might recognise that if anyone can offer suggestions.

Can anyone help, please?

What was it, out of interest?

The second photo on this page, Colletia hystrix (Rhamnaceae).

Are you familiar with it? Beautiful fragrance!

Oh, how interesting!

Is that the one I've read about with a totally unique growth pattern where each branch grows at a right angle?

EcoMouse · 10/03/2010 11:17

Not that I recall GM but I know of a brilliant 6ft+ specimen (trained/pruned to tree) and might have to go and investigate!

Any excuse to go and pore over plants with camera in hand, for an hour or two!

Thanks - yes I recognise it but didn't know what it was called.
Nice to learn something new! I quite fancy one of those in my garden
