Cleaning Decking

Have got a house with a large expanse of filthy decking. Have heard that Jeyes Fluid is good for cleaning it - has anyone else ever used this and was it successful?

I don't know. Soda crystals are good and cheap.

Jeyes fluid is very good for cleaning manky decking. Apply with a brush, leave it on for an hour then rinse off. The new formula does not smell as strong as the old stuff.

I found a high pressure jet washer to be best - no cleaning fluids required. It just took the dirt out without damaging the decking or putting chemicals into the garden (have a family of hedgehogs under my decking so didn't want to use cleaner).

Thanks everyone. Pumphreydidit - did you dilute the Jeyees or just apply it neat to the dirty decking? [Am very excited at the thought of clean decking again!]

Jeyes is a good product but if they don't have that, you could also try Aquaseal Acid Free as it will keep your decking looking cleaner for longer!

I poured an entire small can into a bucket and 3/4 filled it with boiling water then swept the decking with a soft broom (the soft bristle type). Any awkward corners were attacked with a paintbrush.
Came up lovely.

Thank you - I will be busy scrubbing and washing the decking this weekend - weather permitting!
