I've got potatoes coming up in my veg patch, I didn't actually plant them, they've obviously just seeded themselves from the compost that used to be there, will they be OK to eat? (They're in flower atm)

they are called volunteer potatoes & they grow either from potato peelings in compost or from potatoes from previous years that weren't dug up at harvest time. Yes you can eat them. They don't always have such good yield as normal seed potato potatoes and they are also more likely to sucumb to disease or be blight carriers.

OK thanks. Will try them when the flowers are gone.
