Need help with finding a white, non-toxic, looooong flowering ground cover flower...

Underplanting my roses and have hardy geraniums Johnson's blue, lavender, wild violets from seeds, appearance of which I'm rather sceptical about and some Sky Blue busy lizzies in one corner. Need white ground cover that just keeps on flowering, is non-toxic and spreads easily.
Advice gratefully received.

You could try Vinca minor alba, there are several white geraniums (Kashmir White, macrorrhizum, sylvaticum Album), also Galium odoratum (sweet woodruff).
All are non-toxic and will spread.

wild violets will spread easily, lovely dainty things

Vinca too

I'd second the woodruff. Alliums are said to do well beneath roses and there are some white varieties.

Thank you all for your suggestions! Will have a go with the vinca minor (thought all periwinkles were toxic but cross checking number of toxic plant catalogues it seems it's very mildly toxic as are most plants).
Really really really hope my 1000 seeds of wild violets will put in an appearance. I usually don't plant from seed so these itty-bitty tiny seeds just sort of disappeared into the soil.... hopefully to be seen again at some point.

Erm - bindweed?

Rollmops · 14/05/2009 20:54

I do like the flowers of bindweed but its not too obedient now, is it? Can't let it smother my lovely geraniums et al.
