...on a pathway which is damp shade?
It was a 'lawned' pathway, until my kids moved in and compacted and churned it up running in and out day after day. We have put down some of that plastic stuff which grass grows through to provide some support, but TBH the grass won't ever recover given the pounding it gets and the lack of light.
I would love to grow something bouncy and fragrant (I have in my head the romantic notion of a chamomile lawn but more robust), but suspect all that will grow there is moss (which is pretty much the only thing, other than mud, which survives).
So: can one grow, er, moss? Is it available to buy as plants? Or something else? It has to fulfil the criteria: robust, spreading, VERY low growing or mowable, NOT slippy if possible (it is on a slope).
