im so excited - my potatoes are sprouting!

daft as it sounds, ive never really grown much more than tomatoes and flowers before... and this morning my potatoes are sprouting! YAY. it is very exciting. My rubarb is doing really well as are my goosberrys. cant wait to get my other veg out in the next few weeks.

Mine are between an inch and 3 inches and quite bushy it does seem mean to cover them up after all the effort they put in....... I also have some rocket growing but its not nearly as exciting as potatoes

I'm going to let my spuds get to six inches tall before earthing them up and then leave about an inch still showing. Unless there's a frost forecast in which case I'll cover them right over the night before whatever height they're at.

I leave a bit showing so they can photosynthesise & get some energy for the growing I want them to do.

Yippeee!!!! My spuds are through!

My 20month daughter peered into the brown boring bucket and shouted 'WowEEEEEEE' at the top of her voice..... twas very satisfying to show her the potato shoots.
