Can I grow lots of herbs in the same pot?

I have been given 3 lovely pots, and was hoping to plant them with herbs, however Ive 5/6lots of herbs that I want to plant. Can I grow a few of them together in the same pot? The herbs I have are, Basil, parsely(curly and flat) coriander, chives and cress. I plan to start them all off indoor, then move them outside after they have germinated...please help I am a novice!

How big are the pots?

You could always give them a go and see what happens.

I thought you grew cress in a marg tub on a piece of cotton wool

my mum has one huge pot of mixed herbs, i dont know if there are specific ones you cant plant together

They are quite big, about 30cm in diametre and about 40cm deep. Re: the cress, I had hoped not the have them growing on my window cill for ever, hence why I want them outside in pots.

cress you basically grow and harvest don't you?

I would start then in separate pots then pot up into the bigger pots when germinated and growning a bit.

If you're planning on harvesting a lot, then I'd have thought you could get two in a pot quite easily.

Mixing herbs in a pot is fine. The only one to be wary of is mint, because it spreads so quickly and will choke anything that gets in its way!

Mint sounds evil, I think I should be alright with what Ive got then. Thanks will get planting tomorrow, when I can find the compose in the shed. Im all excited now!!!!

Mint isn't evil - it just needs to be shown who's boss!

Mint is lovely and survives really well, but you do need to put it in a pot on its own.

I maybe warming to Mint, however I dont really use it for cooking. Can it be used for anything else?
