Hi,

As the lovely weather is here I want to start doing a bit of gardening with my children aged 8, 6 and 2.

What would you suggest are easy things to grow?(flowers or veg)

We don't have a lot of room in the ground but have plenty of pots.

Thanks for any suggestions [smile

Peas - start 'em off in your kitchen in a cereal bowl on 2 or 3 layers of kitchen roll any time from now onwards, then when they have a teeny root showing put them in your pots. Climbing ones best as you get more for your money if you only have a few plants in pots, I like mangetout but my dd likes normal peas better.

Courgettes - start them indoors end April in a little pot somewhere warm (airing cupboard ideal - taking out and putting somewhere light as soon as they poke through) - then in a nice big pot or growbag stood on end. Good cos you get lots from one plant! Round ones are fun for children.

Outdoor cucumbers - same as courgettes but 2 plants in a growbag sat flat (not good if you are in John O'groats probably, but anywhere not too seriously cold).

Cress - quick easy and no garden necessary
