paint it? put a window box up (does it have any windows?)
put a child size bench in front?
cute curtains?
little flag to fly from front?

Paint it creamy cream (if for girl) or maybe paint it like a beach hut...

Make some gingham curtains (yucky and twee) and put plant pots and window boxes.

Paint the inside too to make it brighter, and fill it with kids crap.
To be honest, my DD would be chufffed with a cardboard box to play with in the garden...

Is the wood inside fairly smooth? You can buy blackboard paint which your boys can chalk on.

We put a bean bag in ours - would that work for your boys?

Re. curtains - we used net curtain wires for the curtains to hang on. I hemmed rectangles and then used plain ribbon to make tab tops to hang them from.

I added an old ship's bell on a rope as the door bell.

You can buy stick on, battery operated lights for the inside.

We also store all dd's musical instruments in it (tambourines, whistles etc.) so all the noise stays outside!

The lights we got are about £5 each from B&Q. You have to remember to turn the off each night or you'll spend a fortune on batteries.

My mum bought the bell at a chandlery (boat stuff shop). If you just google "chandlery" and the name of your area, it will tell you where they are.

I sometimes wish I had a shed. My wife sometimes suggests I get one.

Squiggly - you have persuaded me. That is the kind of shed I want.

Only thing is I have to buy a house with a garden to put the shed in first.

You could also line the inside with flat panels of ply board, cosier and less skelfs.
