Advice on choosing a lawn mower?

Can anyone give me any help or point me in the direction of a good website? I know that there are clynder mowers and rotary mowers but that's about it! not sure where to start.

We just got one . A couple of tips I came across:

The blade of a cylinder mower can be expensive to have sharpened.

Hovers are supposedly better on bumpy gound.

Mowers with a roller give the striped effect.

Take into account lead length (although you'll probably need and extension anyway), the size of the collection box (if it has one), any safety features (like a safety cut off). Whether it folds for storage, etc.

We got a hover as our garden is fairly bumpy, but it was no good TBH. We saw a JCB rotary mower and grass strimmer (for edging) set at Argos reduced from about £100 to about £60, so got that. We're really pleased with it .

Just incase anyone is after a cheap mower. We got a rotary mower from Homebase today for £38 including a free strimmer.

Haven't used it yet (it rained the minute we brought it) but it looks ok for the money.

Electric hover
The Flymo Turbo Lite 330 (£60) is worth considering. It was the most expensive, but its metal blade easily outperformed the others, and it was the quietest mower on test.

Electric hover collector
The Flymo Vision Compact 330 (£100) is our Best Buy. It was the best performer, with two-handed controls, a window to watch the grassbox fill and a neat built-in cable reel. It now has a bigger motor too.

Electric cylinder
The Qualcast Concorde 32 (£80) is our Best Buy. It had a good cutting range and an easy-to-use grass collector, and gave a reasonable cut. And it now has a bigger motor.

Hand cylinder
The Al-Ko 28-5 (£60) is worth considering. It just had the edge on manoeuvrability and cutting height adjustment.

Electric wheeled rotary
The Qualcast Power Trak 400 (£130) is our Best Buy. It was the best performer, if a little noisy, and ideal for a medium-sized lawn. Worth considering for a small lawn is the smaller and lighter Qualcast Power Trak 34 (£100).
