Flower and veg

Does anyone know, or can recommend a book, about growing vegetables and flowers mixed together. All I can remember is that marigolds are good in amongst veg(?!). We have two long beds down each side of the garden (now we've finally cleared it and got turf down). It's sunny especially on the left side, though at the moment it pretty windy too, but we're going to put trellis up and grow something like honeysuckle which will cut the wind down a bit.

Never gardened before - will probably kill everything by looking at it - but really really want to try.

Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

No answers i'm afraid but bumping for you.

Are you thinking of companion planting - eg Carrots love Tomatoes?
I have to say that I also own a pamphlet entitled 'Carrots really hate Tomatoes' in which the author systematically tests all the recommended companion planting schemes and finds that they have absolutely no statistically valid influence on the growth of the vegetables - apart from carrots and tomatoes growing together killing the carrots. Sadly said pamphlet no longer seems to be available.
Or do you mean growing flowers & veg together to look good? If you do, what about this - Joy Larckom is always good value IME

I think I was thinking of companion planting rather than the aesthetic side, though I thought you mixed flowers in for purposes of health in the veg.

Reviews of the Carrots Love Tomatoes book says it's for the US (we don't tend to get preying mantises over here) but there are lots of recomms on Amazon which I will investigate. Thank you.

Would have thought most good veg planting books will have info on this, try Joy Larkom as Takver suggests, perhaps "Grow your own vegetables".
Bit of info on the link and also if you just google compnaion planting

Sorry, got stuck in RL. Thanks for that Pannacotta; until I started this thread I didn't even know it was called companion planting!
