sounds odd, but really freaked out. saw it burrow into a hole in flower bed. obviously resident then. does this mean that they are in the house too?

We have loads of mice in our garden. None in the house. I wouldn't worry.

NCbirdy · 05/11/2008 11:04

Of course there are mice in your garden! They have to live somewhere!

The fact they are in the garden does not mean they are in the house. Just keep the house free of dropped food etc and keep an eye out for any droppings and you should be fine!

captainmummy · 05/11/2008 11:07

For gods sake - where do you think mice live? Somewhere else, obviously. MouseVille maybe. Disneyland?

Doesn't mean that they are in the house,. tho they prob are under the floorboards. And have been for decades.

goblinvalley · 05/11/2008 11:10

That is sooooo cute.

We have a resident mouse too who shares my rabbits shed when it gets cold. I love seeing him and so does my son, we occasionally put some cheese in too for the little soul

Never yet seen him pop into the house for a cuppa tho'

ok ok, cut me some slack. i am a city girl and am truely horrified. shoot me! so i guess i shouldn't go and get a trap then

I think that would be a step too far! Just relax about it, they are out there just like the snails, hedgehogs, spiders etc that you get in a garden.

If you are really worried about the house you could try one of those sonic things that is supposed to keep them out. I have never tried one but I guess they work?

goblinvalley · 05/11/2008 11:19

No trap, just keep an eye out for droppings as a previous poster said.

They really are very cute tho'

MingMingtheWonderPet · 05/11/2008 11:20

Better than a rat in your kitchen

captainmummy · 05/11/2008 11:22

Forevermore - there will be more than just the one! Don't think about that.

Or the spiders/rats/foxes/magpies etc etc etc etc etc etc.

shitehawk · 05/11/2008 11:26

A trap? For mice outdoors? Of course not.

They can't hurt you, and won't be causing any damage outside.

There are mice everywhere - just because you can't always see 'em doesn't mean they aren't there.

captainmummy · 05/11/2008 11:27

You are never more than 10foot away from a rat, in London.

Apparently.

noonki · 05/11/2008 11:28

I love mice

needmorecoffee · 05/11/2008 11:54

there will be rats and moce in your garden. But you rarely see them.

oggsfrog · 05/11/2008 12:30

Moce are a very rare and dangerous species - do not approach them!

meglet · 05/11/2008 12:33

I love mice. We have had one or two in the garden for years and never had any problems. They scuttle about between the compost heap and guinea pig run.

Chandon · 29/11/2008 18:32

they are called field mice, and do not live in houses. I think it´s a different kind!

frostyfingers · 01/12/2008 16:02

Never mind the mice, I have the biggest molehills I've ever seen - measured one at a foot high by 1 1/2 feet wide. I'm hoping not to meet the maker of it!
