whilst it's fresh in my mind, I'm having a think about the fruit/veg I will/wont be growing again next year & I'd love to know what everyone else is planning on doing too!

will grow again:
Beetroot
Peas
Tomatoes (plum this time)
French Beans

won't grow again:
radishes (we don't eat them)
courgettes (I'm bored of them now..)

I can decide about brassicas..they taste amazing fresh out the garden, but most of them got destroyed by caterpillars and flea Beatles, despite being netted!

My staples - tomatoes, courgettes, squash, and a single mini cucumber
Chard - I eat the leaves as salad, really nice

Will grow again - beetroot, radishes (although they struggled in the heat)

Jury still out - all the brassicas. My PSB bolted in the heat and my sprouts are looking a bit underwhelming, but the cavolo de Nero is coming along and lovely MIL bought me a really good brassica cage so it would be a shame not to give them a few more tries

Not growing next year - spring onions (can’t get them going at all), chilis as I have a freezer full

I still have beefsteak tomatoes ripening but I grow lots (20+ plants) and they are all watered automatically so they have been wonderful this year.

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime I cannot grow spring onions either! They should be as easy as cress but they just do nothing.

I got an allotment for the first time this year but not until late May and it wasn't ready to plant until June, so I missed the boat on a lot of stuff. I only managed to get one bed opened up before everything baked as hard as concrete. The sprouts seem to be doing well but as this is my first year growing them I've got nothing to compare them to. Time will tell! The rhubarb was decent, cherries and raspberries were amazing, apples pretty dire, and plums got attacked by pests quite badly.

I closed up the second (so far unused) bed at the weekend - covered with layers of wet cardboard, manure and hay/seaweed mulch. Fingers crossed by spring it's fertile and easy to work.

Next year I'll be planting -

Cherry toms, probably Gardener's Delight which I've always had a lot of success with at home.
Peas/beans but not sure what sort.
Sweetcorn - my allotment neighbour does well with them.
Sprouts again if it's a decent crop this time round.
Not sure what else..

@GidgetGirl are you planting some things now? You can get mangetout and peas in, spinach, salads, chard, kale etc. And just chuck a fleece over it if it gets very cold
