Have you found anything blooming in this drought? Maybe that you didn't expect? Or just a helpful list for 2027 and beyond...
For me

  1. salix /flamingo willow - positively busting out all over
  2. poppies, popping up all over
Thereendeth my very short list. Nothing else is blooming at all.

Fennel is everywhere in my garden, stipa gigantia is ok, echinops looks good, sedums growing. Apart from that, it’s pretty much arid and mainly massive weeds, (ground too hard to pull them out), but they look a bit like grasses from a distance. Some of the buxus is scorched but other areas growing well. Not watering anything.

My roses have survived surprisingly well. Verbena, salvia hot lips and sedum have been ok. Not much else tbh.

Lambs ear, verbena boreienesis, erygiums, hardy geraniums, salvias and sedums all done well. Everything else shrivelled.....

Zinnia. A friend gave me two plants and I stuck them in some spare space I had in a couple of not enormous pots. They've grown and flowered so prolifically you'd never guess there were only two plants.

Basically this plus rhubarb has done well plus kale and sage. Forgot the self seeded evening primroses.

Marking my place as I’ve stupidly volunteered to plant an area on our road that our local council has been neglecting for years. It’s got no access to water so I need bullet proof plants. 🙏
