Can I successfully move mixed-up cucumber and courgette plants?

Well I've screwed up my cucumbers and courgettes. I planted the seeds in one of those seed snails, putting a marker between the two different types of seeds. But when I unwrapped them, I forgot which side was which and couldn't tell by the seedlings so made a best guess. I now can see that I was wrong. So each plant is in a completely in appropriate place and the courgettes definitely can't stay where they are, but it "might" be possible to construct a climbing frame for the cucumbers where they are (however awkward). If I dig them up and try to replant them are any of them likely to survive? I've about 6 of each plant. 😢

How long ago did you plant them where they are now? If they can't stay where they are then yes, I'd dig a large whole to get as many roots as you can and move them. You have 6 so worst case, a couple die but they will likely be ok- more so if they were only planted a few weeks back.

Could you move half to see what happens?

Make sure you water really thoroughly and leave for at least 30 mins before you lift them, and take a good amount of root balls

I'll try tomorrow moving half of each and give it a day to see if they die or revive before dealing with the others. I'm going to have to move the courgettes because they're already crowding the other plants in that bed and will swamp everything. But I'd be much more happier if the cucumbers could be where I'd originally intended as I've a climbing frame already in place for them and it's the most sunniest sun-trap in my garden.

Agree move half at most- cucumbers don't like being transplanted and could stall for a few weeks. Dig a big root ball and go very gently. On the plus side that could stagger your harvest!

I've moved all the courgettes and one of the cucumbers. They all look rather sad, but I hope they revive. The courgettes looked as if they were about to start setting fruits, but the cucumber had only two tendrils starting, so I hope they grab onto the frame.
